What does the law do?
Impacting approximately 50,000 buildings in New York City, Local Law 97 sets greenhouse gas emissions limits for two time periods: from 2024 to 2029 and 2030 to 2034. The exact limits set for these two time periods are based on the building’s occupancy classification. See Limits HERE
Who does the law affect?
(1) a building that is larger than 25,000 square feet, (2) two or more buildings on the same tax lot that together total more than 50,000 square feet, or (3) two or more buildings held in the condominium form of ownership that are governed by the same board of managers and that together total more than 50,000 square feet.
